Study the anatomical aspects of Metridium specimens and make short note
Metridium has a short, cylindrical body about 8 cm in length. The body is radially symmetrical and divisible into three distinct regions, viz, oral disc, column and pedal or basal disc. They are characterized by their numerous threadlike tentacles extending from atop a smooth cylindrical column, and can vary from a few centimeters in height up to one meter or more. In larger specimens, the oral disk becomes densely curved and frilly.
