Symbolic Interactionist Theory

Social sciences have various theories that are normally explored; symbolic interaction

being one example, it addresses how individuals exist in the symbolic and the natural

environment. Therefore, symbolic interaction (according to sociology) can be defined as a

procedure invigorating the joint values and meaning with the help of the specific symbols present

in mind. Additionally, meanings entail reciprocal association between individuals, and while

objects do not hold meaning on their own, these objects obtain meanings from social

participants. Therefore, symbolic interaction is a particular process of (interpretation of the

performance). According to various theorists, they examine the specific attributes of human

behaviour, opposing each other regarding interactionist outlooks relative significance.

On the other hand, symbolic interactionism is a micro theory that concentrates on the

interactions between people in a society. While communication (the trade of significance through

symbols and language) is the method, various individuals believe in making sense of their

particular social environments. Certain theorists signify that this outlook portrays individuals as

being active in influencing the social environment rather than just being performed upon.
