Why was Thomas Sankara assassinated in Burkina Faso? Discuss
Thomas Sankara was murdered on 15th of October 1987 by an armed group, where his former colleague Blaise Cmopaore is said to have organized the heinous act. He was criticized for interdicting the opposition, unions, restraining the media, dismissing striking teachers and swapping them with young individuals with no expertise made numerous people and even contributed to his assassination. Essentially, his death came about because his policies alienated and antagonized numerous groups such as small, but powerful Burkinabe middle class, the tribal leaders who were stripped of their long-held traditional privileges of forced labour and tribute payments (Tchouteu & Chando, 2017).
