What are the strategies option for legacy system evolution when would you normally all or part of a system rather than continious maintainance of the software . Expain why problem with support software might be in that an organization has to replace its legacy system.

The most popular strategies of the evolution of legacy systems are continuous maintenance of whole system or some parts of it, rewriting some easy modified fragments or developing the wrapper on legacy system. In some cases you can meet the new system development from scratch. The problem in legacy system replacing lies in fact that such systems are well adopted and optimized. So new development team will face to same problems which have been solved in existing solution. Thus it will take much time and consequently will become expensive and risky.
