Capital prefers to employ women, which is one reason for the feminization of agricultural labor. Women are more inclined to take low-wage, irregular employment, are easier to recruit and dismiss, are perceived to be submissive and diligent. Some occupations are stereotyped as being for women. All of these elements, together with the gendered division of labor, contribute to feminization. They work together to keep manufacturing costs low and capital accumulation possible.
